El Dorado Festival 2023 (Runner + BTS Videographer)

It was the end of June and there was nothing in the pipeline for me. I had ideas for new projects or social media videos but knew I wanted something more. The something that I wanted came to me throughout a Whatsapp message asking if I wanted to tag along as a production runner for the media team at El Dorado. Before I knew it, I was on my way to Ledbury to assist the team as they created their "aftermovie". I helped with equipment transportation and setting up, coordinating with different departments over the radio, running across the site to deliver materials and even found myself drone spotting for the operator. Here's another running credit, and my first ever festival experience.

The duck brand is going strong...

I was also asked to film some "behind the scenes" footage of the team. As I did this over the weekend, I separated the clips into folders to help me with the editing process. From getting home on a Monday afternoon, I'd handed over a cut on Wednesday morning. I'd asked friends and family for their opinions on my edit and was told that the cuts were very quick which made some scenes hard to focus on. I changed this slightly but still kept the energetic pace to match the feeling of the festival- going from day to night as the video progresses. The feedback from the team was similar to what others had told me but I was ready and prepared with the first initial cut. This led to the team to disagree on which cut they preferred. I decided to meet them in the middle and create my final cut which has more energy as the video goes on.

I also spent some time following the videographers and photographers to film some BTS for their personal reels and social medias. This provided me with backstage access to witness how things operate between sets. Standing on a stage and looking out into the audience was still daunting even when I wasn't the one being looked at but it was a great experience.

I keep doing these faces, I don't know why, it's comforting
